Head of Projects

Semco Maritime is looking for our new Head of Projects, to lead our dedicated project teams. The primary work location for the position is at our shipyard facilities Hanøytangen in Bergen Norway. The ideal candidate comes with a solid background from shipyard, rig and marine projects and is ready to assume the overall responsibility of our project deliveries and ensure they are well managed in all aspects; commercial, technical, safety and quality, throughout all project phases. 

In Norway, Semco Maritime AS is located at Hanøytangen and in Stavanger, both with our Service & Maintenance department and our manpower company. At Hanøytangen we work with rig maintenance and maritime projects while taking an active role in the green shift by developing energy storage and hybrid systems. At other on- & offshore locations we perform service, maintenance and installation work for our international customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the project team, ensuring ownership and project excellence, compliance, and profitability.
  • Ensure the projects are delivered according to Semco Maritimes Project Execution Model (SEMPEM)
  • Manage resource planning, cost control, and financial forecasting for the division.
  • Build and mentor multidisciplinary teams of project managers, engineers, and supervisors, promoting continuous improvement and competence development.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and partners to ensure projects are delivered according to expectations.
  • Contribute to implement new data driven initiatives to continuous optimize efficient project deliveries. 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Higher education in Mechanical, Marine, or Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven project track record
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience within the oil and gas, marine, or energy sectors, with a focus on shipyard, rig and marine services.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, budgets, and large-scale projects in a high-compliance environment.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen; capable of balancing technical precision with business objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage client interfaces and build long-term relationships.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Norwegian is a strong advantage.
