Manager, Project Management – Rig & Marine

Your position

As Manager, Project Management in the Rig & Marine division, you will have a dual role as both people manager and active project contributor within the department of 7 Employees. You will take ownership of the tender process across the department and drive continuous improvement initiatives in close collaboration with key stakeholders. A key part of your role will be to ensure strong alignment between project execution, tendering, and workshop operations. You will work closely daily with the Workshop Manager to optimize planning, execution, and overall project performance.

You will be part of the Rig & Marine department with approximately 190 colleagues working locally and globally on projects within offshore rigs and special vessels. You will report to the Director, Fabrication & Engineering, and work closely with senior management to ensure strong project execution, resource utilization, and continuous improvement of project management practices.

Safety is a core value at Semco Maritime, and in this role you will actively promote a strong safety culture across projects and within the project management team. Your work will contribute directly to delivering high-end technical solutions that support the green transition of the offshore and maritime industry.

The position is full-time and based at our headquarters in Esbjerg, Staget. You should expect some travel related to projects and stakeholder engagement.

Your tasks & responsibilities

As Manager, Project Management, your responsibilities will span leadership, execution, and development to reach the target of delivering a fantastic project to our clients.

Your tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • People leadership of a team of Project Managers, including leading, coaching, sparring, performance follow-up, and competence development.
  • Acting as Project Manager on selected projects, ensuring delivery within agreed time, cost, quality, and safety targets.
  • Overall responsibility for project execution performance within the team, including planning, risk management, and financial follow-up.
  • Ensuring compliance with Semco Maritime’s Project Execution Model, policies, and HSE standards.
  • Supporting resource planning and capacity management across the project portfolio.
  • Participating in project reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and ways of working.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and key internal stakeholders.

Your profile & qualifications

We imagine that you are a confident and motivating leader with a solid background in project management within the maritime or offshore industry. You enjoy being close to the technical and commercial aspects of projects and lead through involvement rather than distance.

To succeed in this position, we expect that you have:

  • A relevant technical education, e.g. Engineer, Marine Engineer, or similar.
  • Several years of experience as a Senior Project Manager on complex projects, preferably within offshore, maritime, or energy-related industries.
  • Experience with people leadership or strong motivation to take on a leadership role alongside project execution.
  • Proven ability to manage technical, financial, and contractual risks.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to establish trust with customers.
  • A structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach, even under demanding deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, written and spoken; Danish is preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and standard project management tools such as IFS and Microsoft Dynamics 365
